Choose the printer’s finished size
The table compares MOO’s US product, Solopress’s UK product and Vistaprint Australia’s standard card. These are named products, not universal sizes for their countries. Use the template for the product you are ordering.
Reflow a layout when changing rectangles. Stretching a finished design distorts type, logos and QR codes. Portrait orientation simply rotates the selected rectangle.
Bleed, trim and safe area
Extend backgrounds to the bleed edge, expect the finished card at the trim edge, and keep essential text inside the safe area. This example uses Vistaprint Australia’s template:
- Bleed · outside the cut
- Extend background artwork by 1.5 mm on each edge.

That template adds 1.5 mm of bleed outside each edge and keeps a 1.5 mm safe margin inside it (Vistaprint Australia). Other printers use other margins; the three-rectangle structure is what carries over.
Questions
Is a business card the same size as a credit card?
No. The ID-1 bank card is 85.6 × 53.98 mm. MOO’s US paper card is 3.3 mm (0.13 in) wider and 3.18 mm (0.13 in) shorter. The UK and Australian products are closer to ID-1 in width but still taller, so check the slot dimensions when choosing a wallet or holder.
The ID-1 thickness and corner radius shown in the table come from a secondary summary of that standard. They do not describe paper business cards.
Which card does the actual-size viewer calibrate with?
A conforming ID-1 bank or credit card. Match it to the outline in the actual-size viewer, then recalibrate after changing the display, browser zoom or operating-system scale.
