The artist trading card convention
The ATC convention specifies the finished footprint, 2.5 × 3.5 in. It does not require a particular paper, finish or corner shape.
For a series, cut the backings together before adding media and compare the finished edges as a stack. Keep the final trim visible while working, and place essential marks far enough inside it to survive hand cutting.
Storage for layered work
Build one representative card with the same backing, paint, adhesive, stitching and sealant planned for the set. Let it cure, then check the thickest area and any raised edge that could catch during insertion. A flat sleeve can press on a mounted object or abrade texture; a rigid holder needs enough depth as well as width and height.
The listed penny sleeve and regular toploader support the ATC footprint up to 35 pt (0.889 mm) thick. For thicker collaged or mounted work, compare the finished card with the toploader thickness classes.
Questions
Is an artist trading card the same size as a playing card?
The ATC convention matches the Copag poker cut, 2.5 × 3.5 in. That shared rectangle supports the sleeve and toploader comparisons above; it does not establish that every playing-card box or binder page accommodates layered artwork.
